Alumni award will provide $1,000 to successful applicants
March 31, 2015 - Saskatchewan Polytechnic students who are following in their parents' or grandparents' footsteps can now apply for financial assistance under a new student awards program.
The Sask Polytech Alumni Awards provide $1,000 in financial support to qualifying students. Students who are the children, stepchildren, grandchildren or stepgrandchildren of registered Saskatchewan Polytechnic alumni and enrolled full time in a program 20 weeks in length or more at any campus are encouraged to apply. The awards are intended to encourage and recognize students with high academic
achievement and financial need. For the 2015-16 academic year, three awards will be available.
"Sask Polytech is fortunate and proud to have many actively committed alumni who support students in a variety of capacities, including curriculum consultation, guest lecturing and arranging work placements," says Pam McLellan, director of Donor and Alumni Relations. "We know alumni want to give back, and so this award was established to create a legacy of support funded by current alumni for future alumni - an opportunity to pay it forward."
Alumni include graduates of SIAST and the other previous institutions that make up the new Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Alumni can register at www.saskpolytech.ca/alumni.
The application period for these awards opens June 1. Students can apply at
www.saskpolytech.ca/scholarships.
